Fall River’s first Chick-fil-A is finally open — and here’s how the first day wentJuly 7, 2022
The city’s first round of pandemic-related, small business grant awards handed out Thursday morning at Government Center was “just the beginning,” according to Mayor Paul Coogan.
The mayor announced a total of $157,000 in Fall River ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) Small Business Recovery Grant awards were being distributed to 48 businesses and one non-profit group in increments of either $2,500 or $5,000.
That leaves another $3.1 million remaining in the city’s ARPA grant kitty.
The grants are intended to help for-profit and non-profit businesses that have been financially damaged as result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A special ARPA panel voted last December to allocate $3.26 million for the business-friendly grant funds from the $69.6 million in total ARPA funding the city has been promised by the federal government.
